This article first refers to the continual realignment of the political parties, in particular the Socialist and Communist parties, with respect to their references to this concept. However, its principal aim is to explain an intellectual trend which has been developing in recent years against all theories of self-management. One axis of this trend is the effort to reduce research to social experimentation ; a second is the attempt to prove that any theory that constitutes a closed system necessarily leads to a totalitarian regime of terror. This theory of anti-theory is taken up in the present paper.
