Family transformations and unchanging views on children. This article analyses views relating to the construction of the family, the importance of children as well as on solidarity conveyed by the family and the State. The authors show that these opinions vary according to respondents’ family situation and the number of children they have. In addition, the longitudinal dimension of the study made it possible to underline that the arrival of a child and changes in people’s personal and professional lives only have a marginal influence on these opinions. Eventually, it appears that the latter are more stable than behaviours and that they precede family transformations.

Cet article analyse des opinions ayant trait à la construction de la famille, à l’importance des enfants, et à la solidarité familiale et étatique. Les auteures montrent que ces opinions varient en fonction de la situation familiale et du nombre d’enfants des répondants. En outre, la dimension longitudinale de l’enquête a permis de souligner que l’arrivée d’un enfant et les changements dans la vie conjugale ou professionnelle n’influent qu’à la marge sur ces opinions. Il semble finalement que ces dernières sont plus stables que les comportements, et qu’elles précèdent les mutations familiales.
