Inter-ethnic research : evolution of models in social sciences in the 1980s. The author gives a general view of inter-ethnic research over the last ten years, underlining the convergences in epistemology and methodology that we can find particularly in anthropology and in history. Special emphasis is placed on research concerning the reappearance of nationalism and the ethnic conflicts aggravated by the end of certain ideologies that liberate unsuspected forces. The concept of weak or tough nationalism enables historical research to come closer to anthropology while highlighting the limits of the psychological explanation of prejudice. Linguistics and psychoanalysis are also called upon to light up the darker areas of individual end collective misunderstanding. A strong trend in research inspired by the pioneering work of Georges Devereux underlines the personal dedication of the researcher, his affective and psychic involvement in the unconscious, collective movements that model him.

L'auteur dresse un panorama de la recherche interethnique au cours des dix dernières années en soulignant les convergences épistémologiques et méthodologiques que l'on distingue en anthropologie et en histoire notamment. Il met particulièrement l'accent sur les recherches concernant la remontée des nationalismes et conflits ethniques exaspérés par la fin des idéologies qui libèrent des forces insoupçonnées.
