Exile : experience and thought. Exile being an extreme situation which profoundly affects the life of the individual as well as the life of the collectivity, any reflection about it must necessarily start from the testimony of those who have lived through that ordeal. Accordingly, the presentation of some aspects of the experience of exile, with its successive stages, is referred to the life stories collected through sociological field inquiries, as well as to literary works nourished by the personal experience of their authors.

Comme toute situation extrême qui atteint profondément la vie personnelle et collective, l’exil ne peut être pensé sans faire appel aux témoignages de ceux qui ont traversé cette épreuve. C’est cette expérience vécue que l’auteur chercher à restituer, dans ses étapes successives, en s’appuyant sur la parole recueillie au cours d’enquêtes, et sur des œuvres littéraires produites par des écrivains exilés, et nourries de leur expérience.
