Статья посвящена той короткой записке, которую Екатерина Великая написала по возвращении из Крыма. Используя французскую поговорку «A beau mentir qui vient de loin» (буквально : «Тому лгать легко, кто был далеко»), императрица сочинила небольшой фантастический рассказ, который проливает свет на мифологическое, культурное и политическое значение так называемого «греческого проекта», в художественной обработке которого приняли участие иностранные гости, как принц де Линь и Л.-Ф. де Сегюр.

«A beau mentir qui vient de loin.» How Catherine the Great wrote about her trip to Crimea. The starting point of this article is the short note the Empress Catherine the Great wrote when she returned from her trip to Crimea. The Empress composes a short fantastic story based on the french saying «A beau mentir qui vient de loin», which throws light on the mythological, cultural and political dimension of the «Greek project» in which Catherine the Great involved foreign observers, such as prince de Ligne or Louis-Philippe Ségur.

L'article est consacré à la courte note que Catherine II rédigea à son retour de Crimée. Partant du dicton français «A beau mentir qui vient de loin», l'impératrice compose un petit récit fantastique qui éclaire la portée mythologique, culturelle et politique de ce que l'on appelait alors le «projet grec », dans l'élaboration littéraire duquel furent impliqués des observateurs étrangers comme le prince de Ligne et Louis-Philippe de Ségur.
