Résumé
With his monumental work of historian and, above all, as of discoverer and editor of documents, French scholar Louis Mas Latrie (1815-1897) “ invented” the medieval Cypriot studies. This paper will attempt to situate Mas Latrie’s work within the political and ideological context of 19th-century French expansionism.
