A baffling town, peopled with immigrants from the Nordeste, from the South and from the Rio Grande do Sul, with unusual women and men and surrounded with trees and insects. Looking for a cemetery a writer discovers an unlikely one, almost by chance. Finding only wooden crosses erected like tombs he tries to decipher the unfinished inscriptions, almost unreadable in this place which scarcely exists. Somewhere in time then, in an unlikely setting, a writer, a traveller of some sort, suggests to us here one of these places.

Amazonie. Une ville déroutante, peuplée d’immigrants du Nordeste, du Sud ou du Rio Grande do Sul, de femmes et d’hommes singuliers, cernée d’arbres et d’insectes. À la recherche d’un cimetière, un écrivain en découvre un, presque par hasard, improbable. N’y trouvant que des croix en bois dressées en guise de tombes, il tente d’y déchiffrer les inscriptions inachevées, quasi illisibles en ce lieu qui, lui-même, existe si peu. Quelque part dans le temps, donc, dans un ici improbable, un écrivain, vaguement voyageur, nous propose ici l’un de ces lieux.
