The sedimentological, biostratigraphical and paleoecological study of the Late Miocene and Early Pliocene formations allow to reconstruct the main stages of paleogeographical evolution of the Polemi basin (Cyprus). The different stages of progressive restriction of the conditions in the basin ending to the gypsum deposition and the modalities of the re-establishment of normal conditions at the beginning of Pliocene are analysed and discussed.

L'étude sédimentologique, biostratigraphique et paléoécologique des formations du Miocène terminal et du Pliocène inférieur permettent de reconstituer les phases principales de l'évolution paléogéographique du bassin de Polemi (Chypre). Les différentes étapes du confinement progressif du bassin qui aboutit au dépôt d'une formation gypseuse et les modalités de rétablissement des conditions marines normales au début du Pliocène sont analysées et discutées.
