Initials of the Unnamable : A Reading of Andersen (O.T.) — and a Few Remarks Concerning Balzac (Z), Hawthorne (A), Kafka (K), Perec (W) The modern « unnamable » is often associated with or explored through a problematics of identity itself reflected with proper names and their paradoxes. In 19th century texts, play with proper names has its own purposes — but prefigures modern concerns.
