Résumé En

Summary. - Whereas Carolingians hoards brought to light in Poitou are fairly well- known, single-finds have never given rise to a specific study. A canvassing business based on collecting information from archaeological excavations and fortuitous discoveries made by private individuals together with bibliographical and archivistic perusals has enabled a survey consisting in at least 133 mentions of single-finds to be set up. The use of this corpus allowed the author to come to the conclusion that a real widespread money-making economy was established in Carolingian times in Poitou which would otherwise tend to corroborate the written documentation.
