From precise examples taken from several comedies by Aristophanes, the author points out the problems of attribution and distribution of repartees which can be set to the editor of Aristophanes' comedies and the influence they have on the meaning of the passage concerned. Pascal Thiercy then broadens out his investigation and shows through a close study of the character of Evelpide in the Birds how the attributions can thoroughly transform the part of an actor in the play. These questions equally concern the present day producer who wishes to strike a balance between the respect for Aristophanes' spirit and the requirements of today's staging.

A partir d'exemples précis tirés de plusieurs comédies d'Aristophane, l'auteur montre quels sont les problèmes d'attribution de répliques et de distribution qui peuvent se poser à l'éditeur des comédies d'Aristophane, et quelle est leur influence sur la signification du passage concerné. Pascal Thiercy élargit ensuite ces questions pour montrer, grâce à une étude précise du personnage d'Evelpide des Oiseaux, comment ces attributions peuvent transformer complètement le rôle d'un acteur dans la pièce.
