The "Belle" medieval site at Neuilly-en-Thelle (Oise) excavated in 1997, links up with an ancient farming hamlet attested in the second part on the XIIth century. Remains of rural housing were revealed, dating from the XIVth, destroyed by fire and, in the XVIIth century, showing evidence of rebuilding. At the beginning of the XVIIIth century a coaching inn took over the farm but the buldings were razed to the ground soon after, and the whole site turned into grassland. Apart from agricultural aspects from the end of the Middle Ages to modern times, the site supplied material evidence in quantity, especially iron implements. The aim of the present article is to describe the organisation of built-up space as found in the large farms of south-eastern Beauvaisis, in the Pays de Thelle bordering the Beaumont county.

Le site médiéval du "Belle", à Neuilly-en-Thelle (Oise), fouillé en 1997, correspond à un ancien hameau agricole déjà attesté dans la seconde moitié du XIIe siècle. La fouille a mis au jour les vestiges d'habitat rural détruit par des incendies au XIVe et, au XVIIe siècle, une nouvelle extension du hameau. En 1707, un relais de poste s'installe à la place des bâtiments de ferme mais les constructions sont très rapidement arasées et le secteur devient une pâture. Mis à part l'espace agricole de la fin du Moyen Âge et de l'époque moderne, le site a livré de très nombreux objets, surtout en fer, permettant une approche de la culture matérielle d'un contexte rural. Cet article se propose de décrire l'organisation de l'espace construit, caractéristique des grandes fermes du Sud-Est du Beauvaisis, dans ce Pays de Thelle qui fait la charnière avec la partie nord du comté de Beaumont.
