Paul Sadrin : The Encyclopédie Article noblesse. Among the many Encyclopédie entries for Noblesse, two articles in particular are interesting ; one (Gouvern. politiq.) is by de Jaucourt and the other (Jurisprud.) is by Boucher d'Argis. Both of these authors defend the nobility of which they are part. But their prudent warnings and advice were later taken up in the context of revolutionary attacks on noble privileges. Hère we can see how the Encyclopédie played a role which was sometimes far from the orginal intentions of its authors.
