Flavius Josephus' statement about the marching order is essential for the knowledge of the Roman Imperial army in the field, because Roman writers unfortunaterly rarely discuss the tactical organisation of the army. His detailed analysis gives information concerning the military dispositions and preparations of the Roman units.

Le témoignage de Flavius Josephe, peu connu, est cependant capital pour la connaissance de l'ordre de marche d'une armée romaine en campagne sous le Haut-Empire. L'auteur apporte en effet des précisions incomparables sur la composition et la protection de l'agmen.
