The Administrative Committee of the Painting Museum, created through a city council ordinance in order to control and direct E. Reynart, the curator, will collaborate with him and with his successors with good understanding. Initially composed of members of the board of supervisors of the Ecoles Académiques, it is soon joined by artists, art lovers and critics, university lecturers and scholars who turn it into a very representative body of the Lille cultural environment. The Committee deals mainly with the purchase of paintings, but also controls the gifts and the restoration work. Its activities will be particulary significant until World War I.

La Commission administrative du musée de peinture, créée par arrêté municipal pour contrôler et orienter le conservateur E. Reynart, collaborera en bonne intelligence avec lui comme avec ses divers successeurs. Initialement composée de membres de la commission de surveillance des écoles académiques, elle s'adjoint rapidement des artistes, des amateurs et critiques d'art, des universitaires et des érudits qui en font un organisme très représentatif du domaine culturel lillois. La Commission s'intéresse surtout aux achats de toiles, mais elle contrôle également les donations, les travaux de restauration. Ses activités seront surtout importantes jusqu'à la Première Guerre mondiale.

De administratieve commissie van het museum voor schilderkunst werd per gemeentelijk besluit opgericht als een orgaan voor contrôle en advies, dat met de conservator, E. Reynart, en zijn opvolgers nauw samenwerkte. Zij bestond oorspronkelijk uit leden van de toezichtraden van de Ecoles académiques, waarbij snel kunstenaars, kunstliefhebbers en critici, universitaires engeleer- den gevoegd werden. Zo werd de Commissie zeer representatief voor het cul- turele leven in Rijsel. De Commissie bad vooral belangstelling voor de aankoop van schilderijen maar hield ook toezicht op de giften en de restauraties. Tot aan W.O. I bleef haar activiteit zoer belangrijk.
