For two centuries, pieces plates from the “ Sultan Service” given by Polish king Alexander Augustus Poniatowski to Abdul Hamid I in 1777 have traveled across Europe and even beyond, together with other presents made to the Sultan. Two plates are now kept at the National Museum of Ceramics. The following article is an attempt to retrace their odyssey.
