The author discusses the Persian origin of the star names Alshain (β Aquilae) and Tarazed (γ Aquilae), which were introduced by Naṣīr al-Dīn al-Ṭūsī in his treatise on the astrolabe, Bīst bāb. He mentions that al-Ṭūsī's name has been immortalized in a crater on the surface of the Moon called Nasireddin.
