This article discusses the former director of the children’s clinic at the Reichsuniversität Straßburg (1941-1944), Dr Kurt Hofmeier. This examination of his motivations, his political affiliation, and his professional experience can help to understand the situation in the children’s clinic more clearly and how it fits in the broader Reichsuniversität Straßburg. The circumstances that led to his appointment to this role, his previous experience in paediatrics, his membership status of Nazi organisations, and his publications are first outlined. Following on from this, this article will examine his postwar activities, and indeed his postwar reception both as an academic and as a medical practitioner. In doing so, this research presents a formerly overlooked clinic director and explains how his role exemplified the aims of the Reichsuniversität Straßburg.

Dabei wird ein bisher übersehener Klinikdirektor vorgestellt und erläutert, wie seine Rolle die Ziele der Reichsuniversität Straßburg veranschaulicht.
