This article analyzes the construction of the female protagonist in Luisa Valenzuela's book Cambio de armas through a consideration of critical observations on the theme of violence by authors such as George Bataille, Hannah Arendt, Rainer Maria Rilke, Michel Foucault, and Wolfgang Sofsky, among others. We establish a variety of links between violence and eroticism showing how, in Valenzuela's story, this relationship is revealed through the love story of the main characters Roque and Laura.
