Introduction The non-national population resident in Portugal registered a steady increase since the mid-twentieth century (1980, n=50.750 residents) to the early twenty-first century (2000, n=207.58756). At the end of the first decade of this century, there is a decrease of the non-national population resident in Portugal (2010, n=445.262).
