When mediums affirm to be in contact with spiritual entities categorized in different groups: deceased persons, Guides, High Spiritual Entities, they undergo specific states of conciousness which they are sometimes able to describe and discriminate.The purpose of the research is to analyze and try to correlate the different states of consciousness with the specific groups of spiritual entities. There is some mention of similar classification in the work of Iamblichos, but a more extensive study of these similarities in ancient Greece and present-day mediumnistic activities will be the center of another paper to be published later.The research is based on personal and verbal inquiries and on a quite extensive written questionnaire (117 questions) which was sent to spiritual professional mediums and some of the results are here mentioned, especially concerning deceased persons: the way the mediums perceive space around the entities, movements and surroundings, belongings, emotional states and the kind of messages received (nearly always the same wish to be recognized as still living). In general, mediums feel themselves relaxed when they undergo their seances, but they feel that they are in another state of consciousness, without always being able to define precisely what changed in their body or in their mind. Guides are giving another kind of message, more personal (advice for future actions) and with moral implications. High Entities can't be asked to come; when they appear very often some fear and an immense loving atmosphere are experienced simultaneously.
