Throughout his career, Steven Spielberg has depicted America as a haven for minorities with considerable onscreen patriotic sentiments, while garnering criticism for having often (and conveniently) rewritten history, omitted facts or changed them altogether (Pryce 1997; Mitchell 1998; Gates 1987).
