Résumé
In what follows I will argue that the two treatises on animal motion, the Motion of Animals (DMA), and the Progression of Animals (IA) deploy some of the analytical and explanatory techniques available from contemporary mechanics. This I intend to show by drawing attention to the parallels in explanations of the pseudo-Aristotelian Mechanics – the earliest extant mechanical treatise – and of the two bio-kinematical treatises.
