L’élite des linguistes grecs au xxe siècle

Focalisée sur Manolis Triandafyllidis (1883-1959), Georgios Babiniotis (1939—) et Anastasios Phivos Christidis (1946-2004), cette intervention se propose d’examiner dans quelle mesure ces trois linguistes constituent un échantillon représentatif et emblématique de ce qu’on pourrait appeler l’élite des linguistes grecs du xxe siècle. Notre démarche, à la fois empirique et théorique, tout en reflétant une vision partielle (elle ne porte que sur trois cas), pourrait néanmoins jeter les bases pour une étude plus approfondie de l’élite linguistique grecque dans le temps, et contribuer à la réflexion sur la notion même d’élite.

Focused on Manolis Triandafyllidis (1883-1959), Georgios Babiniotis (1939-) and Anastasios Phivos Christidis (1946-2004), this paper aims to examine to what extent these three linguists are a representative and emblematic sample of what we could call the “twentieth century Greek linguists’ elite”. Our approach, both empirical and theoretical, while reflecting a partial vision (it concerns only three cases), could nevertheless lay the foundations for a more thorough and a diachronic study of the Greek linguists’ elite, and contribute to the reflexion on the notion of elite.

Με επίκεντρο τον Μανώλη Τριανταφυλλίδη (1883-1959), τον Γιώργο Μπαμπινιώτη (1939— ) και τον Αναστάσιο Φοίβο Χρηστίδη (1946-2004), αυτό το άρθρο έχει σκοπό να εξετάσει ως ποιο σημείο αυτοί οι τρεις γλωσσολόγοι είναι ένα αντιπροσωπευτικό και συμβολικό παράδειγμα της λεγομένης ελίτ των Ελλήνων γλωσσολόγων του 20ου αιώνα. Η προσέγγισή μας τόσο θεωρητική και εμπειρική, σ’αυτές τις τρεις περιπτώσεις μόνο, θα μπορούσε ωστόσο να θέσει τα θεμέλια μίας πιο βαθειάς και διαχρονικής μελέτης της ελίτ των Ελλήνων γλωσσολογών και να συμβάλλει στον προβληματισμό για την έννοια «ελίτ».
