L’Enfant Marocain. Essai d’Ethnographie Scolaire. Ce bulletin de l’Enseignement Public au Maroc a été publié en 1925. Il s’agit d’une étude sur la perception de « l’Autre » par un observateur français, d’un point de vue social en premier lieu. Ensuite, le sujet est abordé scientifiquement, dans une perspective d’anthropologie physique, et, enfin, est esquissée l’hypothèse d’un empire colonial déjà très pré­sent dans l’imaginaire de la Métropole. Le but de cette étude est clairement d’éta­blir les motifs pour lesquels il serait souhaitable de modifier l’enfant d’un pays sous-développé, afin de réduire ses différences avec le modèle occidental.

The Moroccan Child. Essay on School Ethnography. This report on State Schools in Morocco was published in 1925. It is a study about how "the Other" is perceived by a French observer, at first from a social point of view. Then, the subject is seen scientifically, in a perspective of physical anthropology. Finally, the hypothesis of a colonial empire already existing in the thinking of the Metropolis is outlined. This study clearly was to show evidence of the reasons why it would be beneficial for the child from an under-developed country to reduce his differences with his occidental counterpart.
