Cet article étudie un phénomène omniprésent dans la culture contemporaine : la disparition du temps ou la « fin de la temporalité » au profit d’une expérience apparemment immédiate. Il propose d’interpréter ce phénomène de réduction au présent et au corps non pas simplement comme un changement stylistique, mais au contraire comme le symptôme d’une mutation historique, ou du passage à la postmodernité, forme culturelle du capitalisme tardif. Cependant, l’effacement tendanciel du passé et du futur, l’emprisonnement dans un présent constitué d’immédiatetés, dissimulent peut-être aussi une abolition des catégories de présent et d’expérience.

This article examines an omnipresent phenomenon in contemporary culture: the disappearance of time, or the ‘end of temporality’, in favour of an immediately apparent experience. It proposes to interpret this phenomenon which reduces everything to the present and to the body, not just as a stylistic change, but, on the contrary, as the symptom of an historical mutation, or of the transition to postmodernity, a cultural form of late capitalism. However, the underlying effacing of the past and of the future, the imprisonment in a present constituted of immediacies, also hide, perhaps, an abolition of the categories of the present and of experience.
