Cet article explore le travail de conception architecturale autour du projet de gratte-ciel « The Forest » et du label Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) d’origine américaine dans un bureau d’études en environnement à Bombay. La matérialité scientifique du label en cours de fabrication opère une déconnexion avec le contexte local et le projet d’architecture et s’instaure grâce à des pratiques de copier-coller et d’imitation sur l’écran d’ordinateur. Les méthodes procédurières et de normalisation sont pourtant mises à l’épreuve par la subjectivité des architectes, qui manipulent la matrice des critères du label LEED Inde 2011 noyau et enveloppe. C’est enfin la réunion avec les clients qui s’évertue à mettre en relation le projet de labellisation avec la réalité : la matérialité et l’idée du durable semblent ici s’épouser. À travers l’ethnographie du laboratoire en environnement et du travail de conception, le faire durable se révèle dans sa mise en mouvement avec des modes de présence imprévus et singuliers.

This article explores the work of architectural design around « The Forest » skyscraper project and the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification of American origin in an office of environmental design in Bombay. The scientific materiality of the certification in the process of being produced operates a disconnection with the local context and the project of architecture and is established through practices of copy and paste and of imitation on the computer screen. Procedural methods and normalization are however tested by the subjectivity of the architects, who manipulate the template of criteria of LEED India 2011 Core and Shell. It is finally the meeting with clients which strives to link the project of labeling with reality: the material and the idea of sustainable here seem to marry. Through the ethnography of the laboratory in environment and the work of design, the « making sustainable » reveals itself in its setting in motion with unexpected and unique modes of presence.
