GALV ou la synchronisation des espaces du militantisme breton

Mêlant étude d’archives et socio-histoire du mouvement social et culturel breton, cet article revient sur les conditions de possibilité et les enjeux de la formation du mouvement GALV (L’appel) en 1969. Regroupant des militant-e-s de la revue Ar Falz, de la Jeunesse étudiante bretonne et de l’Union démocratique bretonne, il constitue une tentative nouvelle de politisation des enjeux culturels bretons. Résultat d’un long processus de remise en cause des hiérarchies culturelles et de réhabilitation des « classes populaires », GALV est aussi formé dans une conjoncture de crise politique caractéristique d’une rupture du consentement et d’une synchronisation des différents champs du monde social, également marqué par les idéologies et taxinomies anticolonialistes. C’est dans cet « air du temps contestataire » que les militant-e-s de GALV lancent « l’appel » à la « décolonisation culturelle de la Bretagne ».

Combining an archival and sociohistorical study of the Breton social and cultural movement, this article revisits the conditions of possibility and the challenges involved in the formation of the GALV movement (L’appel) in 1969. Bringing together activists from the Ar Falz magazine, the Jeunesse Étudiante Bretonne and the Union Démocratique Bretonne, the movement was a new attempt to politicise Breton cultural issues. The result of a long process of challenging cultural hierarchies and rehabilitating the ‘working classes’, GALV was also formed in a context combining a political crisis that was characteristic of a breach of consent and a synchronisation of the different ‘champs’ of the social world, which was itself marked by anticolonial ideologies and taxonomies. It was in this ‘air du temps contestataire’ that the GALV activists launched an ‘appel’ for the ‘décolonisation culturelle de la Bretagne’.
