Olof Palme est souvent considéré comme l’homme politique qui a le plus marqué la vie politique suédoise du XXe siècle et qui a également joué un rôle au niveau international. Sa mort précoce a eu comme conséquence un bilan politique national méconnu. Dans le monde, Palme est plus réputé pour ses engagements contre la guerre du Vietnam et en faveur du tiers-monde. Cet article proposera une biographie générale retraçant la vie et l’œuvre politique d’Olof Palme, qui traitera aussi bien sa politique nationale qu’internationale – politiques qui émanent de la vision phare de Palme, l’égalité. L’article défend la thèse selon laquelle Olof Palme était un homme politique avec des idées fortes qui ont donné naissance à des politiques concrètes.

Olof Palme is often considered as Sweden’s most distinguished politician of the 20th century and as someone who has also played a role in international politics. His early death has had as consequence to blur the assessment of his national politics, and in the world Palme is more known for his standpoints against the war in Vietnam and in favor of the third world. This article proposes a general biography tracing the life and political work of Olof Palme, looking into his national as well as international undertakings - politics flowing from his vision of making Sweden and the world a place of equality. This article defends the idea that Olof Palme was a politician who had strong ideas that gave birth to concrete policies.
