Origins The SEC (Spoken English Corpus) is a collection of BBC recordings from the 1980s, grouping eleven different radio speech styles ranging from news and interviews to poetry reading. The data represents over five hours of natural-sounding British English from 53 different speakers (17 male and 36 female). The data includes about 55.000 orthographically transcribed words as well as a prosodic annotation (G. Knowles and B. Williams) using a series of fourteen tonetic stress marks. The SEC ...
