Almuth Leichtenmüller Abstract: Bad Ischl has not always been a spa town. The post explores how and when it became one. It briefly traces the importance of the spas and the emperor for the upswing of the town. In addition to happy moments of retreat, it addresses the manifesto written by the emperor in Bad Ischl on the outbreak of the First World War. Bad Ischl war im 19.
