Résumé
The object of this contribution is Epictetus' reprise of the Socratic ἔλεγχος. I underline Epictetus' cognition of the characteristics of this technique and his ability in implementing it. Before doing so, I recall the Socratic paradigm, in order to define the forms and goals of the ἔλεγχος.
