L’éducation comme valeur sociale complexe en langue et en discours, ou comment osciller entre fait et valeur

Situé dans la lignée de trois traditions : une inscrite en philosophie (méta)éthique, une deuxième en philosophie du langage et de l’esprit, et une troisième en sémantiques argumentatives, cet article tente d’argumenter en faveur d’une certaine épaisseur sémantique et conceptuelle du mot éducation, où description et valeur s’imbriquent dans un tout indissociable. En vertu de cette ontologie épaisse d’éducation, le mot implique du fait de sa signification même une propension à l’action, à l’origine de sa potentielle institutionnalisation.

Following the blueprint of three traditions–a first one falling within the scope of (meta) ethical philosophy, a second one within the scope of philosophy of language and mind, and a third one within that of argumentative semantics–,this article attempts to argue in favor of a certain semantic and conceptual thickness of the word education, where fact and value are intertwined in an indivisible whole. In virtue of this thick ontology of education, the word implies by its very meaning a propensity to action, responsible for its potential institutionalization.
