This essay is the revised and updated version of a communication made in Paris on February 25, 2023 during the “Act for Armenia” conference organized by Christian Solidarity International (CSI), French branch. It begins with an overview of the medieval Armenian artistic heritage, especially its sacred architecture, with particular attention to the eastern province of Artsakh or Nagorno-Karabagh. The study then offers a succinct presentation of the immense losses suffered by this heritage at the end of the 19th, in the 20th century and even today. It ends with an update on the current state of the monuments of Artsakh.

Cet essai est la version remaniée et mise à jour d’une communication faite à Paris le 25 février 2023 lors du colloque « Agir pour l’Arménie » organisé par Christian Solidarity International (CSI), branche française. Il commence par un survol du patrimoine artistique arménien médiéval, surtout de son architecture sacrée, avec une attention particulière à la province orientale d’Artsakh ou Haut-Karabagh. L’étude présente ensuite succinctement les immenses pertes subies par ce patrimoine à la fin du 19e, au 20e siècle et encore de nos jours. Il s’achève par un point sur l’état actuel des monuments de l’Artsakh.
