Enfant victime et place des parents

Des enfants victimes sont en général protégés par leurs parents mais ils peuvent l’être également contre ces derniers. En effet, la sphère familiale n’est pas toujours le cocon douillet dans lequel l’enfant peut grandir harmonieusement. Elle recèle parfois des dangers pour un mineur quand ses parents sont défaillants ou pire encore le maltraitent. D’autres fois, lorsque les enfants se trouvent en position d’être victimes, il s’agit d’agissements commis par des tiers. Le rôle joué par les parents est alors essentiel car, comme les intéressés ne peuvent pas agir eux-mêmes en justice, ils sont représentés par leurs père et mère. Un double regard est ainsi porté sur la place des familles, conduisant à se demander s’il n’y a pas pour les parents une ambiguïté à tenir les deux rôles, tantôt du côté des défenseurs des droits des enfants, tantôt du côté de leurs bourreaux. Victimized children are most generally protected by their parents, yet it can be also that they may have to be protected from them. Indeed the family sphere is not always the comfy cocoon it is often depicted as, and in which we would expect a child to grow harmoniously. The family can bear many dangers: it may come from a lack of protection from the parents, but also from acts of abuse performed by the same parents directly. Sometimes also, when children find themselves in the position of being victims, it may be the direct consequence of external individuals commiting acts of violence on them. The role played by parents is then seen as being essential: their child may not have the possibility to go to the law on their own, and should thus be represented by their mother and father. A dual look can therefore be addressed towards families and their role. Indeed it may become legitmate to wonder whether, perhaps, there exists a certain ambiguity in the handling of such two opposite roles, as parents may stand alternately on the side of defenders and on the side of executioners.
