Issues and technologies – from data to meaning The semantic web is not just a slogan. It’s a somewhat utopian project to delegate a part of interpreting Web ressources to a machine. But when we speak of interpretation, we speak about meaning and the meaning we give to these resources, based on which they can be exploited, transformed and transferred. That is why, to define the issues and grasp just what it means, we must identify the reasons why we seek out meaning and define the targets of the semantic web.
Zusammenfassung Das semantische Web ist nicht nur ein Slogan. Es ist ein Projekt, und sogar eine Utopie – die Möglichkeit, der Maschine einen Teil der Interpretation von Webressourcen überlassen zu können. Interpretation heißt jedoch auch von Bedeutung zu sprechen; von der Bedeutung, die man solchen Ressourcen beimisst, und auf die man sich basiert, um sie zu nutzen, umzugestalten und sie zu transferieren. Um die Wichtigkeit besser zu erfassen und zu verstehen, worum es wirklich geht, ist es nötig festzustellen, aus welchen Gründen die Bedeutung wichtig ist, und zu definieren, was mit dem Begriff der Semantik letztendlich gemeint ist.
Resumen La web semántica no es sólo un eslogan. Esta es un proyecto, en realidad una utopía, el poder delegarle a la máquina una parte de la interpretación de los recursos de la web. Pero hablar de la interpretación, es hablar sobre el significado que le damos a estos recursos y sobre los cuales nos basamos para explotarlos, transformarlos, transferirlos. Es conveniente, para delimitar mejor los temas y tener lo que es realmente, determinar por cuáles razones se utiliza el sentido y definir aquello que es referido a través de ese concepto de semántica.
