"From Sex to Transgender : New Historiographical Perspectives on Classical Antiquity". This paper is divided into two parts. In the first, I discuss the diverse trajectory of women’s studies within historiographical research, from the sixties to the new insights offered by queer theory. In the second part, several examples of Greek myths and Roman literature are analysed in order to reveal different sexual orientations and transgressions of gender dichotomy.
