Der vorliegende Artikel möchte die Analyse Thelots vervollstandigen und untersucht besonders die Frage, ob die Wechsel in den Mobilitätsraten ausschliesslich auf « strukturale » Einflusse zurückzufuhren sind. Obwohl, wie Thelot es angedeutet hat, die Entwicklung der Berufsstruktur von grossier Bedeutung war, da sie die Rate und das Modell der Mobilität veràndert hat, so sind systematische Wechsel nicht weniger klar zu erkennen, wenn die Mobilitât unabhängig von jeglicher strukturaler Wirkung bewertet wird.

Thelot has used data from INSEE inquiries of 1953 and 1970 to provide an analysis of changes in social mobility in France between these two dates. The present paper aims to add to Thelot's analysis, and addresses itself in particular to the question of whether observed changes in mobility rates are entirely attributable to 'structural' influences. It concludes that while (as Thelot has suggested) the evolution of the occupational structure has been of major importance in altering the amount and pattern of mobility, changes of a systematic kind are none the less still evident when mobility is assessed independently of all structural effects.

Thélot a utilisé des données provenant de l'Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques (INSEE) faites en 1953 et 1970 pour effectuer une analyse des changements dans la mobilité sociale en France entre ces deux dates. Cet article vise à compléter l'analyse de Thélot et s'attache en particulier au problème de savoir si les changements dans les taux de mobilité sont entièrement dus à des influences « structurales ». Bien que, comme l'avait suggéré Thélot, l'évolution de la structure professionnelle ait été de la plus grande importance en modifiant le taux et le modèle de mobilité, des changements systématiques n'en sont pas moins évidents quand la mobilité est évaluée indépendamment de tout effet structural.

Aspira ese articulo a completar el análisis de Thélot y se aplica peculiarmente al problema de saber si los cambios en normas de mobilidad dependen enteramente de las influencias « estructurales ». Pero, como lo habia sugerido Thélot aunque la evolución de la estructura profesional tenga gran importancia modificando la norma y el modelo de mobilidad, cambios sistemáticos son sin embargo évidentes cuando se halla evaluada independientemente de cualquier otro efecto estructural.
