Rémi Franckowiak, « Jean Hellot and 18th Century Chemistry at the Service of the State », HAL-SHS : histoire, philosophie et sociologie des sciences et des techniques, ID : 10.1007/978-94-017-9645-3_10
The paper proposes a re-evaluation of Jean Hellot's status in relation to the Académie des Sciences but also in relation to the public authorities and to the matter of alchemy. The result will be a re-evaluation of the role of the Académie as a unique highly qualified scientific authority in the development of the economy of France in the middle of the eighteenth century, as well as a re-evaluation of alchemical practices perceived from a strictly economic standpoint.
