Gustavo Chalier et al., « Los cajones de la memoria: testimonio físico de la construcción del puerto de Arroyo Pareja », HAL-SHS : histoire, ID : 10670/1.bqqfk6
The planning and construction of ports built by French companies in Argentina is an empirical demonstration of the French "savoir faire" in port issues developed at the end of the 19th century. The arrival of a group of French engineers in our country meant the application of new techniques aimed at adapting the construction needs to the natural characteristics where the new ports were located. in this article, the focus will be on the application of a construction system developed by the engineers of one of the main French companies, Hersent. The caisson method was used to build the Commercial Port of Arroyo Pareja in 1912. Some of them, stranded, are a mark of memory of those works and an identity sign still visible in the port landscape in Arroyo Pareja.
