Cet article ne traite pas de l’évolution des usages des systèmes d’information, mais de l’histoire d’un club singulier, l’un des tout premiers think tanks français, le Club Informatique des Grandes Entreprises Françaises (CIGREF). Cette histoire est traitée en trois parties chronologiques de la genèse du Club, créé en 1970, à son quarantième anniversaire en 2010. À travers cette histoire, l’évolution des usages au sein des entreprises est toutefois perçue, sans qu’il s’agisse de la problématique centrale. La vocation du CIGREF, conçu par son président fondateur comme un club discret, connaît une évolution importante au cours de ses quarante ans. Si, à l’origine, le rôle du club est alors essentiellement d’informer ses membres et de leur offrir un lieu de rencontre et un moyen d’expression, à partir du début des années 1980 il prend des positions plus marquées vis-à-vis des constructeurs et prend progressivement conscience qu’il doit dépasser le seul cercle de son secteur. Au final, le CIGREF devient un acteur central du monde des systèmes d’information.

This article does not focus on the use of information systems, but on the history of a singular club, one of every first French think tanks, the “Club Informatique des Grandes Entreprises Françaises” (CIGREF). This history is treated in three chronological parts from the genesis of the Club, created in 1970, to its fortieth anniversary in 2010. Through this history, the evolution of the use of IT within companies is however indirectly considered. The vocation of the CIGREF, conceived by his founding president as a discreet organization, evolved during its forty years. If, originally, the role of the club consisted essentially in informing his members and offering a space for professional expression, from the beginning of the 1980s it became more oriented towards dealing with IT suppliers issues, with an agenda moving gradually beyond the IT sector per se. As an outcome of such process, CIGREF is now a major actor of the world of IT and information systems.
