This article provides an overview of the reception of Palestinian Arabic literature in French translation from the first publications in 1970 until the present day. It follows this history and offers insights at its main actors, whether translators or publishers, and thus describes it as a variation on the conditions that govern the reception of Arabic literature in translation in the French literary market: it follows its general patterns (e.g., an over-politicized reception that stresses the testimonial and the documentary dimensions over the literary ones), but also presents original characteristics (notably, the strong presence of Mahmud Darwich’s towering figure).
