Résumé 0

The article presents a summary of the history and contemporary situation of Romani literature written in the Czech Republic (and Czechoslovakia) since the mid 1960’s. The overview of the history of Romani literature in Czechoslovakia outlines the historical context of the emergence of Romani literature in the country (marked by gradual disintegration of the traditional Romani communities as a result of historical developments and strong assimilation pressures as well as by the emergence of a strong ethno-emancipation movement). The key role of the late Milena Hübschmannová in the emergence and support of the movement is mentioned and some of the current developments are discussed, including the diffusion and current problems Romani literature is facing in CR.The comparative part of the article analyzes the image of a « Romani community » – as an idealized icon of the « golden days » of Romani culture and one of the anchors of Romani ethno-emancipation movement in Czechoslovakia. On the example of five Romani authors (Andrej Giňa, Tera Fabiánová, Ilona Ferková, Gejza Horváth and Erika Oláhová) the changing approaches to the motive of the Romani community across different generations of writers are discussed to show some of the ways of the current developments in Romani literature written in CR.
