Solange Arber, « Paul Celan et Elmar Tophoven : la traduction en partage », Études Germaniques, ID : 10670/1.gm8js6
Although they came from different backgrounds, Elmar Tophoven and Paul Celan were involved in the same German-speaking literary circles in Paris. Their friendship was based on their common experience as translators and teachers of German at the École Normale. Elmar Tophoven indirectly helped Paul Celan establish contacts with the University of Freiburg and Heidegger. The history of Tophoven’s and Celan’s relationship offers some insights into their biographies and activities. It also sheds light on certain aspects of Franco-German cultural history.
