Based on unpublished data on a specific scheme to help carers, the Cafés des aidants®, this article looks at the historical development of this scheme over a period of 10 years and its territorial implementation across France. Illustrating the growing importance of « supporting carers » on the political agenda, the quantitative and territorial analysis of these data, coupled with more qualitative accounts, shows a certain delegation of the scheme from local authorities to the voluntary sector, particularly in urban areas. We would then be witnessing either a new example of « government at a distance » or a form of « unfinished articulation » between the State and the voluntary sector. In conclusion, and based on the identification of areas that are particularly conducive to Cafés, we suggest that we follow « actors in action » in their mediation and intermediation practices

Partant de données inédites sur un dispositif particulier d'aide aux aidants, les Cafés des aidants®, cet article s'intéresse au développement historique de celui-ci sur une période de 10 ans ainsi qu'à sa répartition territoriale à l'échelle de la France. Illustrant la mise à l'agenda croissante de « l'aide aux aidants », l'analyse quantitative et territoriale de ces données, couplée à des témoignages plus qualitatifs, montre une certaine délégation du dispositif de la part des collectivités territoriales vers le secteur associatif, notamment dans l'espace urbain. Nous assisterions alors soit à un nouvel exemple de « gouvernement à distance » ou à une forme d'« articulation non aboutie » entre l'État et le secteur associatif. En conclusion, et sur la base de l'identification de territoires particulièrement propices aux Cafés, nous suggérons d'y suivre « les acteurs en action » dans leurs pratiques de médiation et d'intermédiation.
