After three campaigns that we led in Tyre between 2008 and 2010, we are offering here a new interpretation of the monuments excavated by M. Chehab before 1975. These new hypotheses are focusing on the thermal bath sector constituted by a large basilical room and the main bath building linked to two symmetrical palaestrae. The preserved remains were built during the Early Byzantine period (4th-7th century). The monumental bath in this period is almost similar of the Antoninus bath in Carthage. It could belong to the imperial thermal type defined by Krencker. The sector constituted by the latrines and a puzzling rectangular building with rows of seats surrounded by two rows of cisterns is still under investigation. Keywords: thermae – Tyr – Libanon.
