Des Communs « à double révolution »

La question des Communs fait un retour remarqué sur la scène intellectuelle et politique en remettant en cause tant notre rapport addictif à la propriété que nombre de constructions institutionnelles (l’État, le droit, le Marché) que nous croyons naïvement acquises et universalisées. Pour en comprendre les enjeux, il faut tout d’abord en saisir l’originalité initiale et radicale par le détour anthropologique d’expériences outre-mer puis apprécier ses modes particuliers de confrontation contemporaine au marché généralisé et capitaliste. Nous vivons ainsi une double révolution, comme redécouverte « copernicienne » de relations précapitalistes et comme rupture possible avec l’ordre propriétariste suggérant un dédoublement fonctionnel de la notion de Communs.

The Commons are coming back intellectually and politically, questioning our subordination to ownership and to any long established, and nearly universal, institutional constructions like State, Law, or Market. To understand the stakes, we have to comprehend its initial and radical originality, by means of an anthropological detour overseas and the observation of contemporary confrontations with the Market and capitalism. We are currently experiencing a twofold revolution: a Copernician rediscovery of ancient and pre-capitalist relationships and a possible rupture with the pre-eminence of ownership. We propose a functional duality in the notion of the Commons.
