John E. Roemer et al., « Une théorie générale de l'exploitation et des classes », Actuel Marx, ID : 10670/1.n4vd4w
John Roemer constructs a general theory which includes feudal, capitalist and socialist "exploitations". He uses a game theoretic definition of exploitation, in which property relations (the differential ownership of productive assets), not the labour theory of value, is the central concept. The key theorem is the Class Exploitation Correspondence Principle: every producer who must sell his labor power to optimize is exploited. John Roemer presents a theory of class formation and a concept of "socially necessary exploitation". Historical materialism can predict an evolution in the forms of exploitation as history progresses.
