Résumé Fr

This paper presents the results from a quantitative study conducted on 638 French students enrolled in Master's Degree programmes in engineering and management who study English as a foreign language. The aim of the study was to identify how the amount of time spent learning English informally may have a positive impact on a student's English language acquisition as measured by standardised tests; to identify how students use technology, more especially mobile devices, to facilitate their access to English language media. The results show a positive correlation between the amount of time students spend learning informally with English language media and social networks and their level of English. The students we surveyed access media most often with non-mobile internet devices.
