Among the Anatolian epigraphic documents, numerous dedications are said to be made « after an order/command/dream » that is attributed to a god and that makes the dedicator act according to the divine will, or together with the divine. When contextualized, these documents often appear to take part in an oracular consultation ritual, or even to be the predictable conclusion of this ritual, by contributing to realize the project that is being submitted to the divine council. Thus dedication becomes a way of acting upon reality, as a prerequisite for the divine support given to the human project, and a speech act that both says the existence, the greatness and righteousness of the god, and the piety of the dedicator.

La documentation épigraphique anatolienne abonde en dédicaces effectuées « d’après un ordre/commandement/rêve » attribué à un dieu et plaçant le dédicant en situation d’agir conformément à la volonté divine, voire avec le dieu. Contextualiser ces documents montre qu’ils s’inscrivent souvent dans un rituel de consultation oraculaire dont ils constituent l’aboutissement prévisible tout en participant à la réalisation du projet à propos duquel le dieu est consulté. La dédicace devient ainsi un mode d’action sur le réel, en tant que condition du soutien divin au projet humain, mais aussi une action d’énonciation à double sens qui dit à la fois l’existence, la grandeur et la justice du dieu, et la piété du dédicant.
